Wine Packaging

Wine PackagingIf you are looking for the average run of the mill wine, the question box?

Does it matter whether it comes in a box, a plastic bag or a bottle?

For me, no! For wine snobs: Oh you'd better believe it.
I do not really care because I do not like wine:) If I mix it with club soda. Sigh ....... guess I'm destined never plates nob with the upper crust.

Yes and no. If you ask me if the wine is different, the answer is "no." The wine of this society there is a bottle of X is the same wine that company Y is X in a bag. (Of course, if they are labeled as different wines they will be different, but if they are labeled the same, they will be the same wine.)

If you're wondering if the packaging has several different benefits, then the answer is certainly yes. For the record, I am probably the first poster would be considered a wine snob, although I like to think of myself as more of a wine geek. ;)

For your average, everyday, over wine mill, packed in a bag (or more correctly, a bag-in-box system) is probably the best method. It is much cheaper than the bottles (which means the company can spend more on wine instead of container), easier to carry, and will keep the wine cooler if you're drinking during a week (as wine comes out, the bag shrinks around him, keeping contact with air at least).

The bottles are much better (if necessary) if you plan on aging a wine in your cellar, but for wine throughout the factory, you do not want to do that anyway - it is done for immediate consumption.

I would recommend against the wine box, because it tends to leave the wine used exposed to air, which quickly ruin it. Tetra-Paks are useful (as you can rub them up), but not very environmentally friendly. Cans are simply horrible on all accounts. ;)

As I said above, I am a wine geek. Most of my wines are in bottles, as most of the wines that I buy is made to be kept and eaten. But for my drink wine every day? I am typing in a bag-in-box from the supermarket.

There are many wines here nowdays and the choices can be confusing. I am one of those wine snobs and will not buy anything that is not a cork. However, I would choose a wine screw cap on a box or bag. It has been my previous experience that wine is the drink box the first night it opened. After that, the taste is significantly reduced. I suppose it is the same for wine bag. There are many wines in the $ 6 - $ 10 range that plugs ... I would choose the latter.
