I try to make wine, where can I find fresh grapes? I'm currently brewing beer and try to expand and make a little wine for fun and laughter, I like the New York area and wonder where he is every reason that I can buy fresh grapes , id be willing to travel for some grapes, but I can not include all countries in Cali, as much as Virginia would be acceptable, please help.
Regarding the grapes are concerned, I think focus less on obtaining grapes and more on getting juice. I buy all my juice from different wineries. It is a pain in the butt crushing / juicing and cellars have modern equipment to make the most of the grapes.
I usually go to fall to buy juice, but many vineyards were fermented juices on hand to most of the year. (Keep in mind I speak local / cellars near microphone. Odds are you wont sell Gallos juice)
Find a local producer and ask them if you buy 5 or 6 liters of juice to make homebrew, chances are they'll be happy. If you are local to New York, I bought some juice and Fulkerson Hazle in the past (two cellars Seneca Lake). Do a Google serach on Niagara County Wine Trail, Lake Erie Wine Trail, Finger Lakes Wine Trails (it 4-5 there). Good luck!
Surly there is a large farmers market around. They have, especially in an area heavily Italian.
Also there are a ton of wineries in the Finger Lakes region. It would be difficult to get at all.
