Scuppernong grapes - ('scuffydine?)? Is it just scuffydine a mispronunciation of Scuppernong?
Here in the south, I always heard "scuffydine, but wonder if it was Scuppernong they were referring to.
(I'll do Scuppernong wine when they mature this year)
I think it's just a colloquialism south through the Scuppernong and muscadine name. It does make a hell of a good wine, and if you make the style of red wine (ferment on the skin), it has 7 times the normal resveratrol in red wine. Good for the heart and mind!
Scuppernong grapes belong to N. American Muscadine grapes. Maybe that is where the confusion comes.
