Reasons For Binge Drinking

I am studying nursing and I am doing research on binge drinking, just lookin for peoples opinions of both psychological and sociological reasons why people binge! Also any other information and thought that you think might help me? Thank you in advance look forward to reading the answers! x

I'm from Australia and (teenagers) in binge drinking is at epidemic levels.
The problem of teenage pregnancy is one that gets the most media coverage.
I think a lot of it is peer pressure, avoidance and mob mentality mixed with low self-esteem.
Parents views of the alcohol does not help - they think it's much more acceptable than other drugs.
