5 Secrets to order a good bottle of wine every time! I found that most people want to enjoy wine, but many of them just feel frustrated and confused by all the jargon and pageantry. I believe that learning about wine should be simple, without attitude and above all, lots of fun! Here are my 5 secrets to order a large bottle of wine every time:
aec Ask the sommelier or server for suggestions. Most of them are eager to help and have enjoyed most (if not all) of wines on their list. Those of us who chose wine as a career benefit from drinking wine every night, but not necessarily large budgets. Sommeliers and servers know the best deals because that is what we drink at home!
aec If you are on a budget but do not want to know that the client recalls a wine in your price range and then for a replacement suggestion. Any good server will recommend something less than $ 10 wine you have highlighted. Do not pick the cheapest bottle, however, look for wines second or third level. The lowest prices for wines are actually marked the most often 4 or 5 times higher then the cost could be priced wines marked an increase of 2 times the cost.
aec Let's face it, we are not experts in French, Spanish or Italian, but that does not stop us from enjoying the right wine? If you find a great wine that you want to order, but are afraid to pronounce it, look for the cell number listed to the left of the wine. Many restaurants use them as a method to organize their stocks of wine. If the list does not list bin numbers and point to the wine in question and any astute server will get the message.
aec Resist the temptation to order the cult favorites as Opus One and other highly sought after wines with the name recognition. These wines are expensive because, like Gucci and Cartier status of the brand is part of what you pay for. Many times you can find wines that are of similar quality for much less, especially if you're willing to try lesser-known varietals and regions. Ask your waiter or server, they will be able to recommend the best buys.
aec Try to sample as much as you can at home or the free store tastings. Retail wines are usually marked up to 30-50% cost compared to the standard markup cost 2-3 times in a restaurant. Experimenting at home you will experience great wine to order you'll love when you're out!
