Nhs Drinking

Nhs DrinkingIf the abuse of alcohol in the UK costs the NHS £ 2.7 billion a year is not it time charge for the treatment of drunkards?

According to Sky News this Article drinking puts excessive pressure on NHS resources. Is it not fair to charge a minimum of £ 100 to any person treated in A & E or by ambulance crews for alcohol problems?

I do not ask about the long-term damage or alcoholism that the NHS should treat all people equally, but people who have alcohol poisoning and overdoses of drugs should not be treated free of charge. At least I think so.

Wake up and smell the roses. Here in Ireland we charge! The reason being that to provide for a special isolation room for people to "sleep, it's off, people to watch so as not to choke on their vomit, not to mention the blood every hour to see the lower level of alcohol in the blood before they can return home. You do the crime, and you do the time, and pay for it. Soon made a difference.

Its a slippery slope.

I am proud to work in a country where one, no matter where they come from receiving free treatment in emergency excellent.

I agree that there are many social problems in the United Kingdom responsible for poor health. But this is not for the NHS to start charging people for care.

So who goes completely against the idea of an NHS!

This could help the NHS would be nice if people would stop suing them for the tiniest mistakes from time to time and then complain when they do not receive the treatment they deserve! No person may request time for them when they have to release staff to cover some terrible trial!

I think people should have to apply for a liquor license for staff (people can have their licenses revoked if they consume too many units per week, or cause annoyance or receive NHS treatment.

More people die from alcohol (and related diseases) than any other drug.

....................... And people who are overweight and people who take drugs and people who smoke and those who do not and those who take part in dangerous sports and people who drive fast cars ....... ...... blah blah blah.

Lol, if you want the UK to be like the U.S.? If you started to preach that you have stoned to death. I live in the U.S. and this is no picnic. We must pay a deductible of five thousand dollars before the insurance companies pick up any price. In other words, the first five miles for a calendar year is in our pocket, the more we have to pay six hundred dollars a month in premiums. I did not mention the cost of prescription drugs where we pay the most in the world. We're not even allowed to get our drugs from Canada or Mexico because the prescription drug companies own President and Congress. They give millions of dollars to their campaigns, and so they get these laws passed. The saddest thing is that drugs are manufactured in the United States and sold in Canada and Mexico at a price and we pay a high price for them, even if they are doing here! The elderly are dying because they can not afford the drugs so they can share their pills, thinking that this will help.

If you do not like the way the NHS operates may I suggest you live here instead!

I agree with Mark J. There are many medical conditions requiring ongoing treatment, which can be attributed to life. Do you refuse to treat diabetes because the patient is overweight or hear.
