Are mothers of babies with FASD guilty of assault? Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is considered a neurological injury to a fetus as a result of a mother consuming alcohol during pregnancy. Given the amount of information and advice to pregnant women about the consequences of this behavior ... If a defender of the affected child be allowed to continue the mother on behalf of the child and the mother should be charged with abusing her child?
But no, Don C!
If yes, where would this case? My daughters would be able to sue me for their literacy skills and hyper-literary.
Think of prosecution for myopia and left, etc.
Ok said the Don, the "problems" can be imposed directly by the negligence of the mother in pregnancy. But, so what?
A lady enciente may well lead to a wall.It may be due to black ice or driving. What negligence is the difference really?
And who is to say that alcohol is not inherited the gene all the way? And what about those ladies who can not eat and are sick for 9 months of the term? They should be prosecuted for not feeding the baby properly?
No.Compassion is needed here.
I think most women who drink while pregnant MUST have serious mental or emotional problems, leading to self medication with alcohol.
Drinking in the first 8 weeks can cause severe FASD and the mother may not even know she is pregnant.
If allowed, the same should go for those who smoke more, the choice of procedures that lead to fetal damage (such as amniocentesis screening for genetic diseases, or choice, c-section leading to lung damage due pneumonia).
Yes indeed. It could help some mothers to be thinking a bit more before hitting this shot of vodka.
