American vs. European laws Drinking? I plan a trip with my buddy across Europe, including Germany, Ireland, England and Italy. My question is, what restrictions apply only to the U.S. American age "less than" tourists in Europe and would differ from the cruise on the real world? I am 18 years will be 19 when I am planning on touring Europe. My friend will be 21 years, will be able to enter bars with him in Europe?
Thank you to everyone who replies:)
Not at all. You can drink as much as you want.
I was in the Navy during my teenage years and we last visited Italy, France, Spain and Germany. I drank like a fish. U.S. law does not apply abroad. However, no DUI.
On the boat, the laws of the country of registration requirements. On land, the country's laws apply. Your nationality is completely irrelevant (but please try not to give people a bad impression of Americans by getting drunk). Otherwise, it would mean that 10 years old tourists from a country in which they were allowed to drink would be allowed in the U.S. - and you never know what will happen.
Not at all, you are free to drink as much as you want, and if you stop by Amsterdam, you could very well you are a joint or two too!
The only laws, which generally strike Americans abroad are laws governing sexual relations with minors, but I'm sure you're not going to Europe to connect with a 13 year old, then you will well.
I think you will find most European countries are not as restrictive when it comes to age, but beware, some countries do not joke when it comes to driving under the influence. For example in Denmark, you will lose driving privileges for life on a first offense.
nope, do not hesitate to drink it to the most Europen countries you can drink as soon as you can see on the bar, so if your a dwarf of your soil
U.S. law has no effect in European countrys. While there, you are subject to local laws.
Yes, you will be able to enter bars with him to Europe.
