Diagnosis
Epilepsy is diagnosed mainly by the interpretation of the medical history of a patient, the patient describes what the seizures were similar and, when a patient can not recall the crisis, witnesses may also be asked to describe what they saw.
The tests can be done to remove the causes of short-term crises, such as uncontrolled diabetes or infection. A complete neurological examination is performed, including an EEG (electroencephalogram, a machine that records brain waves picked up by the son taped to the head).
Can we prevent epilepsy?
Many cases of epilepsy can be prevented by wearing seat belts and bicycle helmets, putting children in car seats, and other measures that prevent head injuries and other trauma. Prescribing medication after first or second seizures or febrile convulsions may also help
