Drinking Water Filter

I have hard water, with lots of iron. We have a water softener to fight against this. If we did not have the softener, the water is orange out of our taps. It is not that good to drink water with salt water softener, especially now that I'm pregnant. What would be the best water filter for me? Should I get one that attaches to the faucet or pitcher with a filter?

We have a filter "Amway water, right on the kitchen tap water, cold water. She, the filter, lasted two years before changing an alarm is triggered. I know they are a bit spendy but they are good.
