Disposable Drinking Cups

Disposable Drinking CupsIs there any reason, my cats prefer drinking water goblets people that their metal bowl?

I use a lot of disposable plastic cups (yeah, bad habit) and my cats like to drink them and do not seem to like their bowl, even if I keep it very clean and change water in their cups and bowl every day. Is there a reason?

It's like a treat for them. I have a cat who loves to eat out of the measuring cup I use when I feed the three of them, so I let him have some bite right out of the cup before I put the food down for them all. He also sniff my coffee before it leaves my cup alone, he hates the smell of coffee, but he should know what is in my cup before I let them drink.

Maybe find a way to stabilize a couple of cups and leave them to their water and just change the cups when they are dirty.

My cat is like that, he would even drink water from the pool, tub or dirty water on the ground outside, but it's been like that his whole life and I've read Once they come, like to drink in different places, like Sam said it might be like a treat for them. It could also be the taste of metal, I prefer to use glass bowls and I keep two around the house just Incase he sees one in his way and decides to drink.

PS Please do not let your cat drink from the pool, I still think it's bad and stop my cat when I see him drinking from it.

In fact metal plates and plastic emits gases that cats can smell and taste. It is best to feed cats in a bowl or ceramic dish. Just keep it clean by washing frequently, rinse and dry.

Then your cat will eat where they are supposed to.

Hope this helps ....

Cats prefer fresh cold water. One of my only drink from the sink bathroom and insists on jumping there Every time I go to the bathroom. It will slip into my drinking glass of water too. It's just a preference for cats. They might not like the bowl you use.

I do not know, but my cat does too. The only thing I can think of is my water has ice in it? The two cups and a plastic bowl I have ...

"I change my kitty water every morning, but she still can not leave my cups alone. Its really annoying.

I agree with others who have said that your cat probably does not like the metallic taste of the tank. You can try one of the Petmate drinking. They look like mini water coolers. In this way, fresh water is in the bowl that your cat drinks.

Cats like fresh water and your cat has learned that the fresh water is usually about what is in your plastic cup. You can put fresh water in a clean bowl and get water in a cup stale and it would _try_ the first cup.

Maybe they do not like the taste of metal bowl. You can use a plastic water dish as long as you change the water daily and wash it every few days.

My cats like cold water, so I put some ice cubes in a couple in their flat from time to time. I always fill it with cold water too.
