What Parents Need to Know About Teenage Drinking As any parent knows, the reality of life is such that most people abuse alcohol at some time or another during their adolescence.
However, the abuse of alcohol and binge drinking for the sole purpose of getting drunk can be harmful to physical and mental health of adolescents. For this reason many experts continue to be alarmed by the attitudes of adolescents toward alcohol.
Many kids start drinking before they are legally entitled to do so. Alcohol can have many negative effects on the body, especially when the body in question is not fully developed. Besides being harmful to health, alcohol also decreases the decision, which could lead adolescents to do things they normally would not.
There are more deaths related to alcohol teen deaths than all other drugs combined.
Alcohol is unique in its situation, because, although it is a drug and can cause as much health damage that illicit drugs, it is socially accepted.
Parents may actually be relieved that their son or daughter is the consumption of alcohol, rather than harder drugs. However, the reality is that alcohol is dangerous.
All problems or strong emotions that a young person is facing can be aggravated by alcohol. It is a depressant and can increase the feeling negative or positive, depending on the mood of origin of a teenager.
Besides being a danger to themselves, adolescents who have consumed alcohol may also be a danger to communities where they live. Boorish or disruptive behavior caused by alcohol and violence can ruin the atmosphere of a community.
In addition, most parties that adolescents will have alcohol on site or provided by the hosts, or made by other teenagers. The teenagers, two boys and girls do not have the experience to know when they have had too much to drink, and in many cases, they drink for the sole purpose of getting drunk.
This kind of behavior is a common cause of things like rape, fighting, and drinking and driving, of course, one of the leading causes of fatal accidents can save many lives in danger.
In fact, given that alcohol slows reaction time, while being more likely to crash, a drunk person can actually have a chance to get seriously injured slightly lower compared to the other driver, because their muscles tense and will not remain rigid during the accident.
The key to reducing alcohol consumption among adolescents is education. By educating youth about the dangers of alcohol, including drunk driving, depression and other ill effects of mental rape, and physical well-being, we can hopefully see a reduction in cases consumption of alcohol among teenagers but it is unlikely.
Because of the ease most teens get alcohol, it can be considered the most dangerous drug of all. The parents of the attitude of "Well, I prefer to drink here where I can watch." Just kidding.
I was a teenager once, and every party I ever went too that had alcohol, and they all did - where alcohol was provided by the parents, nobody has had the supervision of parents.
They stayed up there, comfortable they were responsible because the children where in the house and not driving around.
Wake up parents - you can not do that and expect to change the behavior of your teen.
