The abuse of alcohol by students of the College. dependent and independent variables? Hypothesis: Life at the College makes students have anxiety that leads to their consumption of alcohol.
What could be the independent and dependent variables?
Depends on your experimental setup I think, hmmm it would be harder to implement than I thought. Check the records and see if more people received erupted for violations of alcohol at times of stress this year. This can not be a study of the experimental method, all you would not set-up reliability, and it would be unethical. Thus, you will need to use random surveys that ask questions about the history of personal use for various age groups and see if college students drink more. Personally, I agree, but that's not all due to anxiety, there are many other factors, mostly social. This should be the principles, your study is not an independent variable because of its type. The dependent variable was the amount of alcohol used by the individual, so I suppose if you have data from individuals of similar age groups who either go to college or do not, then you can ask questions on their history of use.
In summary:
* Independent variables answer the question "What should I change?".
* The dependent variables answer the question "What should I watch?".
* Variables controlled answer to the question "What should I keep the same?".
Uh-oh .... homework. Please read on and see what is not so difficult to understand.
