Beer Brewing

Beer BrewingWhat kind of beer brewing kit should I expect?

I want to start brewing beer I own. I've never actually made the beer, but I want a starter kit. Should I buy a beer kit pre-assembled or get all the peices together? Should I start with a kit cheap and easy as Mr. Beer and then make my way until I get better at the brewery? What are good recipes or kits ingredient in beer?

Hey, glad you are considering joining our obsession .... me mean hobby average. I'll do this quite short and simple. Mr. Beer. Kit is a very good start. I know I'll take flak as it is actually of low quality. However, it is fairly cheap, comes with everything you need to start, and if you decide to brew is not for you, then you can usually get about 10 dollars out of it on E-bay.

That said, if you find you enjoy the mix I would recommend finding a local store and home brew upgrade as soon as possible. Also, because I'm sure it will come back, the beer is fine brewing. You probably will not ruin. You do not know what that means yet, but when it comes up you know.

If you want to do something like this once, then the kits make much sense. All you need is already in the kit. So, if you do as a kind of goofy, fun idea, it's good to go with a kit.

But if you think you will do frequently and are interested in experimenting with many different styles of beer, then get the parts individually. Find a store beermaker in your area (if you can) and get supplies from them. You get a much better quality that way. In the long term, it will also be less expensive because the equipment is reusable. And you learn what you do, you'll be able to do exactly the kind of beer you like.

One last thing. If you want to get lots of recipe ideas and information procedures, visit the American Association homebrewers, and their magazine "Zymurgy." (The word refers to the fermentation.) http://www.homebrewersassociation. org / pa ...

And remember: "Relax. Do not worry. Have a homebrew.

Good luck!

Here a system similar to Mr. Beer, but it has more features, and more expensive .. I have 2 of them so I can make 5 gallons and divided between the 2. Makes a lot cheaper than using their kits. But again towards the south, you can buy beer for about 1/3rd what we pay $ 20 a dozen for an infusion of descent.

I would say no to Mr. Beer, the beer machine, and the other "toy" kits. They are limited in what you can do with them. I started with Papazian's book (New Complete Joy of Home Brewing), a kit brewers best equipment, and a trip to the house my nearest store brewing. The owner got started with an all-extract beer I still do from time to time. (It was not a "kit", but he took what I needed.) From there, I gradually worked my way to a greater complexity.

Papazian has published the best recipes I have seen. You can check http://byo.com too.
