Alcohol caused this! Alcohol that!
Some alcohol and violence related injuries I have seen so far this year in the emergency department:
* Guy, 24 years with ruptured spleen and broken his back falling off a balcony * 15 years old girl killed 3 / 4 bottle of vodka - intubated / ventilated & went to intensive care for 24 years * lakes serious face "glass" facial injuries * Aspiration pneumonia by inhalation of vomit - intensive care * broken legs / arms / knee / Back / Fighting ankles / neck associated with alcohol, car accidents, falls, etc * women victims of domestic violence * numerous injuries to the head of numerous neck injuries, lacerations to the face / head / hands and arms, stab wounds, skull fractures, broken nose ... * The list is long ...
So, why continue to occur every day of the week?
"These are young people and their excessive consumption of alcohol ....!"
- Not true, how the mother of too frequent access to 30 who drank 1-2 days most bottles of wine?
Tonight for example, I saw a 44 year old male suffering from abdominal pain (questions and alcohol) that was mushy and tottering, and then wetting his pants and screaming emergency personnel - delicious.
What man of 62 years vomiting red wine all over himself? Or a 16 year old girl drunk than a block from a thumb and forefinger in his trapezius muscle elicit any response at all.
I have been yelled at so many times to "get this silly thing is about me, you &$^$%!!!" (People who want the drunk hard collar removed - perhaps the only thing stable in retaining their broken neck). Often, people drunk can not control all bodily functions, and I think it's ok to pee, the use of their bowels and vomit everywhere ...
Is it just extreme examples of people who can not handle their liquor? Hardly ...
Are you someone who drinks too much? Have you had family members / friends or people you know alcohol problems? When have you had enough to drink? Make responsible consumer choices, not only you and your health benefits, but it also sets a good example for your friends, your partner, your children.
Think it is too late to change your habits? Not at all. Drink alcohol in moderation is not the problem - is the abuse of alcohol and bad choices that led to all sorts of disasters.
Alcohol and Drug Services Site (www.dassa.sa.gov.au):
Drunkenness is the most common cause of problems related to alcohol, leading to injuries and premature deaths. Alcohol is responsible for:
* 30% of road accidents * 44% of fire injuries * 34% of falls and drownings * 16% of cases of abuse * 12% * 10% of suicides of accidents
As the death, the short-term outcome of alcohol in sickness and lost productivity of labor (eg hangovers, drink driving offenses). In addition, alcohol contributes to criminal behavior - in Australia over 70% of inmates convicted of violent assaults have drunk alcohol before committing the offense and more than 40% of incidents of domestic violence, alcohol .
From a health standpoint, long-term excessive alcohol consumption is associated with:
* * heart damage in hypertension and stroke * cancer * Liver damage * Digestive other digestive system disorders (eg stomach ulcers) * impotence and reduced fertility increased risk of cancer * Breast * sleep disorders * brain damage in mood and personality changes * Problems with concentration and memory
In addition to health problems, alcohol can affect your finances, work situations and relationships. Judgement becomes impaired, reactions slow down, reduces coordination and reduce inhibitions.
What do I do now?
Think about the effects of alcohol on your own life. Do you need to make some adjustments? Do you need to talk and say something yo.
