What day in daily life as lived in adolescent drug rehabilitation centers and alcohol, especically Re: School? Thinking about sending my sister, but I do not want him to lose any semblance of normality, so I want to know about the school and social interactions with other children to these places.
I have not been in an institution that dealt with problems of substance abuse among adolescents exclusively. I have been in residential dual diagnosis. They are facilities that treat substance abuse problems and other psychiatric problems. I was placed in a facility like this because of family history of substance abuse.
Each location will be different, but the teaching and social interaction are generally not subject to these facilities. Some institutions are trying to place strict controls on social interactions. This is done to the fact that interactions between adolescents in this environment can easily lead to inappropriate sexual behavior. I never found schooling in these institutions to nothing beyond a poor substitute for real education. Often it was the time set aside to try to follow the work of your real school. This can often have the greatest impact on daily life in these institutions is whether they are secure or not. Maintaining normalcy can be very difficult when the doors are locked.
I strongly suggest you ask as many questions as possible about the places you are considering.
