The tendency to develop osteoporosis depends on a number of factors, important ones are listed below:

Age: The chances of increasing osteoporosis in women after the age of 45-50, while among men 65-70 years.

Sex: Compared to men, women were 4 times more susceptible to osteoporosis since their bones are lighter and slimmer than men.

Race: Studies have shown that Asian women and Caucasians are more prone to osteoporosis than other women.

Thinner people are also at higher risk of osteoporosis because they have less fat. Fat cells of estrogen, which deficiency causes bone loss in women.

Genetic factors: People with a family history of osteoporosis are at increased risk of osteoporosis.

Malnutrition: lack of proper food can lead to lack of vital nutrients essential for bone health (such as calcium, vitamin D) and increase the risk of osteoporosis

Smoking: Smoking also increases the risk of osteoporosis.

Alcohol: In people who drink heavily, the loss pattern is much larger than its formation. However, recent research has shown that moderate consumption of alcohol may actually increase bone density. Thus, reducing the amount of alcohol in light to moderate amounts would be a better option for your bone health.

Soft drinks: Regular consumption of soft drinks a large amount of phosphoric acid may interfere with the absorption of bone.

Sedentary lifestyle: too little physical activity or weight bearing and exercises such as walking, running, dancing, weight lifting or climbing stairs can weaken bones. Exercises also do your best to balance and reduce the likelihood of falling.

Some medical conditions: If you suffer from certain diseases such as hyperthyroidism, or a disorder which prevents proper utilization of calcium and vitamin D you a greater risk of osteoporosis.

Certain medications: If you take medications such as steroids, widely used for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma for 6 months or longer period, you are susceptible to osteoporosis induced by steroids . These drugs are the common cause of osteoporosis in men.

Caffeine: a large amount of caffeine can also increase osteoporosis. Thus, you should limit consumption of coffee, tea, cola, chocolate, etc.

Anorexia: Anorexia refers to loss of appetite due to the health of some or deliberately fasting to lose weight. Such a condition often creates a lack of nutrients (like calcium, vitamin D) necessary for bone formation, thus increasing the chances of getting osteoporosis.
