Even if you drank five beers last night and a breathalyzer gave a reading of .10, this is no guarantee that if you drink five beers tonight that the reading will be exactly the same thing.
If you're tired or hungry, thirsty or stuffy or if you drink another type of alcohol (even if you drink less of it than your usual drink of choice) that you normally consume you may be effected entirely differently than you be expected and this may be reflected in your BAC.
There are also many myths that go around on one's ability to manipulate their BAC and level of intoxication by participating in certain activities extremely easy, but really the only thing that can lower your BAC is time. Things like: drinking lots of coffee, run a vigorous physical activity or jumping into an ice cold shower will have no effect what so ever on your blood alcohol levels, stopping the consumption of alcohol and allow sufficient time to pass is what you can do to bring your BAC back to a normal level.
It takes the average person about one hour to metabolize the alcohol contained in one standard alcoholic beverage (beer a 12 oz glass of wine or one shot.) So, if you knock back a six pack of your favorite beer while watching the ball game at your friends house, you better be prepared to spend the night or call a taxi to go home unless your planning to wait until the wee hours of the morning so your body can metabolize alcohol, all that your BAC can drop back down to well below the legal limit before getting on the road.
It does not matter if you feel well or if you just had a cup of java and ran around the block, you can always follow the legal limit, a means of calculating the approximate amount of alcohol in your blood is using alcohol calculator.
