Alcohol Addiction Help

I am a functioning alcoholic. There is no way around the subject is what I am. I'm not violent, I'm married and I work full time. I've never been arrested because of my addiction and I never hurt another human being, physically, because of my addiction. My wife has been very supportive over the years, but I decided to stop. I am now 11 days without a drink after drinking all day for the past 22 years. Today I am going through a bad patch and fear of leaving my wife back hurts, but the temptation of alcohol begins to take over ... help!

I suppose you should consult with people who can understand and can help eliminate dependence permanently ..

I am married to an alcoholic, also works. I can tell you what you do: the world at your wife. You can not know how it hurts when the person you love, you chose the bottle over. Choose love. Keep doing what you do, you are so proud right now! Do you really want to go on the road alcoholic, or do you really take a crack at Happily ever after? Alcohol makes people find themselves (apologies) and makes a marriage more damage than anything else. Each time you choose it over the bottle, you resetablishing confidence that broke you. You made a huge decision, and it was "good" person! Stick with it sweetheart ... You'll regret relapse, but you will not regret the success.
By the way: my husband went dry, he chose love over the bottle, and we have never been closer or more loving. It's worth it. Do not go back now ...

Firstly I wish to congratulate you on achieving success within 11 days, but like all addictions, there's always the odd days when the temptation will arise, and you feel like you are falling, but simply to know that you are not alone, I've never been addicted to anything before, but I know enough to tell you the same way that you have committed not to be an alcoholic more, you can and will achieve it with persistence and determination to happen.so my suggestion to you is take it and do not go to a group, find Alcoholics Anonymous or something and see if you can join a group that can help you in your quest to victory.GL to you!

Having been without water for 11 days after 22 years of drinking every day is a fantastic achievement (well done!). This tells me you're serious about wanting to beat this disease and that is why you must continue the good work for you and your beautiful family support.

I know when I stopped smoking, I changed my vice of fags candy as something else to envy / emphasis on "short term" until I had left behind queers. Is there something like this you can use to help you through difficult times that you have before you?

Wow A Tuffy ... Well, so far so good. 11 days is great ... Just keep trying. The choice of alcohol will always be there. This is all the work on the past, the need to develop as now when you want. It is good that you are here today for the support! As others have said AA would give you a list of people who are in the same place as you right now. You can call anytime to talk and they will understand. Just keep in mind what you think today not disappointing your wife more. You can do it for you and your relationship with her. Just prey and ask God to help you get the point. Just think about sex. LOL not potable. When you see your wife to kiss her, and want to keep the alcohol on your mind. Replace it with the thoughts of his or just something else you like. (That's why I said sex) Almost everyone likes sex. I'm sure your wife does not like too! Think of it will when you get o.
