I need to talk with alcoholic mothers who abused alcohol during pregnancy ... PLEASE.? I am an alcoholic. I am 17 weeks pregnant now. I know the risks and honestly, I tried not to drink ... Without success. I do not want the harsh comments I'm sure many of you have, as of right. My husband is not aware that I am still drinking, and everyone in my life. I know all that one of you might have to say ... the only thing I do not know what damage I have done to my unborn child. I always work to stop, but I would like to discuss with all the mothers who have experienced what I have and I'll pass. I do not want my child suffers from life for what I have done selfishly. Please, if anyone of you out there know, I need to talk to you. I still have time to terminate the pregnancy if I choose to do so but I do not want if necessary. I'm sorry if this makes no sense to "non-alcoholic" who could read, but you have no idea ... and I have no excuse, I know, but it is what it is at this point. I want to talk to someone who is or was in my situation ... I can not be the only one???
Of course, you're not alone. I am a recovering alcoholic myself (10 years sober) and everything, I managed to stop drinking (mostly) during my pregnancy, I drank while I fed my babies. And I know what you mean. I really do. She sucks and guilt was overwhelming. I can not judge you for it because it happened to me too. And I am a good person. I was very ill at the time. Fortunately, my two children are healthy today.
The best thing you can do is stop smoking immediately and consult your doctor. It is true that more damage would happen in the first quarter, but there is still time to practice good nutrition and taking care of you. Your doctor may also be able to give you medication to reduce the urge to drink - so-called naltrexone, I think. I do not know if it is approved for use during pregnancy, but your doctor will know.
If you think a support group to help you, you can try AA or if you're lucky enough to have SMART Recovery in your area, you can try. Smart Recovery also has online meetings, where they give you really good tools and support.
Good luck my dear. I'm totally rooting for you!
There is no way of knowing what type of damage has been done. Some babies are born to alcoholic mothers without any sign of problems. Others have serious health problems / FAS.
All you can do at this point is to work with your doctor to get the help you need to STOP drinking water. Every day you get to drink is NOT one day help your baby and reduce the likelihood of problems.
Im not an alcoholic, but! Maybe you should talk with your doctor, because as you know it is very important not to drink during pregnancy. If you've always wanted to know about the damage you, then when the age of 18 weeks, the doctor will do an ultrasound to check how the baby is viable, and sex of the baby. You really should try not to drink because when you see your face your babys going to regret all the harm you did during your pregnancy, also when you plan to pick up a glass may think that one drink can cause birth defects. stopping you, hopfully. Good luck!
You should contact YY http://www.aa.org for the support and assistance you need, you're right, you're not alone. Good luck!
The first quarter is the weakest moment of gestation. Do what you can as far as trying to stop. Take one day at a time. My aunt drank with all his children and they are all in their thirties now and there is nothing wrong with them, but even the doc said she was lucky. Do not push your luck your baby may be fine. Concentrate on what you can do t.
