How can we work together to ensure universal access to drinking water? Drinking water is a necessity for life. Over one billion people lack access to potable water. How can we work together to solve this problem?
Drinking water is so fundamental to life, but the solution will involve a lot.
My pipes froze a few days ago and my father asked,
"How do you brush your teeth?" I reminded him that I had lived
in a village in Africa for over 3 years as a Peace Corps volunteer
and that for me, here in America one night without water
My house can be easily overcome / resolved. So to answer your
question, I think there are three keys to this solution.
1) Here in America, we need not be so obvious.
We worry over gas prices, congestion, and cell phone interference,
while others struggle with the day to day basis with issues of life and death.
I think we need to get a little more outside of ourselves and reach out
supported against manipulation or force.
2) People living in areas without the need for adequate water
practice safer sex habits. The whole village, I lived in the use
river itself for laundry, bathing, travel, and drinking
water. When mothers had their little squat
use the river as a toilet, my attempts to teach differently
have been in vain - education is the key.
3) If the technology can send people to the moon and do
MRI, we have the wisdom of the construction of wells and other
but communities must purchase themselves. When
things such as wells are built right / paid instead of
built by a community, it rarely lasts. Simplicity is preferable
because it is easier for a community to realistically maintain.
And training must accompany something new.
Methods to boil, filter and otherwise process water
should be more widely so.
Ge Tower minds work and think.
You have all the money to supply the poor with water bottle.
I live in Mexico. There is no drinking water here. Sewage infects all the rivers and the ocean in Mexico. Alrady California, is seeing the effects of sewage away from the area around Tijuanna.
Education.
Teaching in the Third World countries there is an impending problem.
How did you sign this official under your name?
Do you think this issue has been long enough.
We can not forget Mars and Earth are concerned.
By showing people how clean the water themselves, then giving the means to do so.
Education! We must ensure that people understand water is the reason to live and w / out, life as we know it would not. Therefore, if we can get the democracies to understand that fresh water is a natural product "limited" resources and only part of it is recyclable. About 3% of water on Earth is fresh and most of this is actually tied up in glaciers. Even with global warming, the water in the oceans, so it's not at our disposal. The largest resource of fresh water available to humans is found to be water underground, but this water is often used in cases such as agriculture, or polluted by industry. In addition, it can take hundreds, thousands, millions of years to replenish groundwater ... So it really is a nonrenewable resource.
Thus we are left with fresh water to the surface ... This represents less than 1% of the remaining water ... and this surface water is storming of urbanization (concrete jungle), pollution, sedimentation, agriculture, industry, etc., etc. If we do not manage our surface properly we will lose this resource also.
However, humans are a strange beast, as we pretend to hate science or just use science when we need it, we come to science and say ... help us, because we have no water.
